The IBO has announced their decision in regards of the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak that all schools closed due to the reasons of safety will have their planned events until the end of May 2020 postponed to a later date.
Published on the 2nd of March by the IBO on their website, the news comes as a sigh of relief for most students who were facing a dilemma due to the outbreak.
The deadline extensions from IB has been implemented in many regions affected by the virus, namely: Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR China, Macau, Mongolia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Northern Italy, South Korea, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Japan and Kuwait, Lebanon and Sindh Province in Pakistan.
eCoursework early component Original deadline: 15 March Extended to: 12 April
Internal Assessment Original deadline: 20 April Extended to: 20 May
MYP Personal Project and ePortfolio Original deadline: 20 April Extended to: 20 May
CAS completion entry Original deadline: 1 June Extended to: 3 July
Predicted grade entry for DP, CP and MYP Extended to 1 June
Externally assessed components for film, dance, music, theatre and visual arts Extended to 30 May
The IB has also mentioned that if the school of the IB student requires further extensions, the school may make contact with IBO. And due to the unpredictable situation, any IB schools that are impacted by the Covid-19 coronavirus, and needs additional support regarding assessments, may get in touch with the IB’s Adverse Circumstances team at email@example.com.
