Updated: Nov 11, 2022

Pearson PTE Academic is an English proficiency test widely accepted for study at the U.S. universities. The PTE Academic is also accepted for practice by regulatory bodies in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Hong Kong, and is being increasingly accepted by tutors and programs as a fair, objective and convenient way of assessing a student's level of English. A popular test for people looking to migrate overseas to or study in an English-speaking country, millions of people have taken the PTE Academic to date, making it the one of the world's leading academic English tests.

PTE Academic is Pearson's computer-based test of English for study abroad and immigration. The test uses real-life scenarios to assess your English communication skills in an academic setting. There are four main sections to the Pearson Test of English Academic: speaking, writing, reading and listening. Speaking and writing are assessed together in one 40-minute section, while reading and listening consists of separate 30-45 minute sections. This means that the entire test can be completed in one, 2-hour session.
